Thematic Curriculum Units

Each thematic unit has a key subject focus, with ample teaching material to last approximately six to eight weeks.
Teachers will appreciate not having to hunt down resources and having a learning flow and sequence of lessons that teaches in the way pupils learn best – the joined-up way.

These units are specifically tailored to the National Curriculum. By buying the thematic units, you can be confident of exciting and engaging lessons that children will love. To give you an opportunity to sample our Toolkit before fully adopting the cohesive Dimensions Curriculum, you can request a full sample unit to view.

Cross-Curricular Learning

Each unit comes with all resources and electronic versions of lesson plans, learning objectives and activities to save time planning.

You can request to see a full sample of our KS1 ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ thematic unit…

This theme is based around humans and animals, with a key focus on science. Pupils will begin by looking at the WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE FRONT COVERcharacteristics of living and non-living things, moving on to classifying birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles and mammals. They will learn about the human body and what it needs to, the importance of keeping healthy and some basic life processes. Carnivores, herbivores and omnivores are also introduced through the catchy song, “The Least Fussy Eater.”

This theme has cross-curricular links to art, dance, drama, computing / ICT, literacy, speaking and listening, maths, music and PSHE.

You can request to see a full sample of our KS2 ‘Abracadabra!’ thematic unit…UKS2 ABRACADABRA FRONT COVER

Pupils us their magic skills to investigate and demonstrate reversible and irreversible changes, heating, cooling, making solutions, filtering, sieving and evaporation. It then moves on to comparing and grouping materials based on properties, such as conductivity, and develop understanding of why particular materials are chosen for certain products and tasks.

Comment from Ofsted March 2016, Waterloo Primary School, Ashton-Under-Lyne

"The school's curriculum ensures a strong focus on developing the basic skills of reading, writing and mathematics. Pupils' knowledge and skills in other subjects, such as science, geography, history and art are developed through a range of cross-curricular topics and themes, which are planned to capture and motivate their interest and develop a love of learning. Pupils' positive views about their work reflect that this is successful."

Marking Quote

“The Ofsted inspection reflected a huge improvement in our past performance. They were impressed with all aspects of the school and could see the curriculum work we are doing through Dimensions has made a big difference. They were particularly impressed with the marking programmes and the fact that the children were able to explain how they worked and implement next steps themselves. There is no doubt that Dimensions has had a hugely positive impact on raising standards.”

Bubbles Quote

"Bubbles resources are incredibly simple and easy to follow. The warm-up activities are great – my children are singing ‘Radio Rock’ continually at the moment!!! I like the fact it links with other resources we have in school and that it reinforces teaching in other curricular areas. I've found it to be an invaluable, creative way to teach and wouldn't hesitate in recommending the resources to other teachers."
