2020 Ready!

As you are probably aware the Government have issued statutory guidance for teaching Relationships Education, Relations and Sex Education and Health Education in schools. Although currently in draft form, we expect a finalised, published version of this document soon.

We are  happy to say, after reading the draft guidance, that our 3D Key Stage 2 Programme is almost 2020 ready and we will be working very hard over the next few months to make sure that by September we have a whole school programme that not only meets the 2020 government requirements, but exceeds them.

We understand that you want to make sure now that your school is ready for 2020. Therefore, we are offering schools the option to buy our current 3D PSHE Key Stage 2 Programme now and we will commit to sending you a completed new version of the programme by September 2019, that is 2020 ready.

KS2 PSHE Resources

These lessons come complete with all necessary additional resources, such as images, PowerPoints and stories. They use meaningful contexts to teach pupils how to look after themselves, how to relate to others and how to contribute positively, developing an all-round sense of wellbeing.

From encouraging friendships via a red-carpet award ceremony, through to raising aspirations through world of work events; from developing food and nutritional awareness through creative cooking, through to financial awareness through organising a new superstore sale, 3D PSHE resources teach life skills and tackles big issues. Lessons instantly appeal to pupils through the use of visual stimuli, practical creative activities, real-life scenarios and the use of drama and role-play.

The Key Stage 2 scheme of work consists of over 90 individual lesson plans, organised into 22 separate units,  centred on our three areas of Health and Wellbeing, Relationships and Living in the Wider World.

Nine new key areas of study and exploration are introduced, along with the 12 key areas of study which are also covered in Key Stage 1. The nine new areas are:-

Overviews

Our KS2 Programme is split into Lower and Upper KS2. The lessons within Lower KS2 can be taught in either Years 3 or 4 and lessons in Upper KS2 can be taught in either Years 5 or 6. This is because we are passionate about joined-up learning and making cross-curricular links. We leave our programme flexible, so teachers can choose the best time to teach our PSHE lessons, in order to weave them into the rest of the curriculum being taught. However, we have written suggested overviews for Years 3-6 as an example of how and when to teach our PSHE lessons. These are provided within the programme.

Bubbles Quote

"Bubbles resources are incredibly simple and easy to follow. The warm-up activities are great – my children are singing ‘Radio Rock’ continually at the moment!!! I like the fact it links with other resources we have in school and that it reinforces teaching in other curricular areas. I've found it to be an invaluable, creative way to teach and wouldn't hesitate in recommending the resources to other teachers."

Marking Quote

“The Ofsted inspection reflected a huge improvement in our past performance. They were impressed with all aspects of the school and could see the curriculum work we are doing through Dimensions has made a big difference. They were particularly impressed with the marking programmes and the fact that the children were able to explain how they worked and implement next steps themselves. There is no doubt that Dimensions has had a hugely positive impact on raising standards.”

Daisyfield Primary School, Blackburn

"The school’s recently revised curriculum is interesting, broad and well balanced. Your carefully chosen revisions to the curriculum for subjects other than English and mathematics engage all learners, but particularly boys. Teachers make good use of practical experiences to engage pupils in learning about abstract concepts. For example, in a computing lesson, pupils developed their skills in creating and debugging algorithms through the production of a jam sandwich." (Daisyfield Primary School, Blackburn; Ofsted Short Inspection report December 2017)
